As of July 1st 2007, it is now illegal to smoke in any 'substantially enclosed' public place. This means that throughout the UK, doorways are now cluttered with staff on smoke breaks, which causes difficulty and a health hazard at the main entrance to your building. Whilst these signs are not a legal requirement, they are used to politely request that your staff and/or visitors use the designated smoking areas.
